We entered our final session of yesterday feeling refreshed and relaxed following our afternoon out. This was a session in which we all met together to explore what it means to live and work in meaningful partnerships. On the one hand were the delegates, representing the NGOs, and on the other were the staff and a trustee, representing the donors. We discovered in the course of our discussions that we had much in common - a desire for honest and open communication, the need for mutual respect, a willingness to offer encouragement and constructive criticism, a readiness to learn from one another and to recognise the gifts each partner brings. And so we were able to affirm all that has been good about our partnerships thus far, whilst recognising that there is always room for improvement if we are willing to accept the challenge to grow and evolve. Moreover, we are delighted to see the potential there is for partnerships between our partner organisations as new friendships are established and new contacts are cultivated. Together we can be stronger.
