It has been, as we say in West Africa, 'a beautiful something'.  A coming together of people from all over this vast continent, sharing their stories of successes and struggles, being reminded that there is more that unites than divides us.

I've been involved in international development for seven years now and I think this conference has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.  The MRDF partners are special people.  There were absolutely no financial benefits to them in travelling for many hours to this conference.  We had a programme of 10 hours of workshops every day.  The accommodation was simple and the food unfamiliar.  But the spirit of generosity, patience and joy endured throughout.

Another West African saying is that you are a 'lucky somebody'.  Having been a part of this, I know that I am.
